The Thrill
Seeker and Sightseer: This surely must be the ultimate
way of experiencing the shifting sand dunes of Namibia on a
four-wheeled motorbike (Quad-bike). The trip will cover
the Riverbed, gravel plains and the spectacular dune field
outside Swakopmund. After receiving a full safety and
eco-briefing we will be ready to go. (All partaking in this
experience will wear helmets and goggles, which are provided at
the departure point). An experienced guide will lead you
up the Swakop Riverbed, starting at the River mouth and twisting
and turning up towards the end of Swakopmund residential area.
We then proceed onto the two gravel plains towards the dune
field; here you have the ability to "let loose" and use the
accelerator. One feels the freedom of riding in one of nature's
great wilderness as the wind passes through your hair.
As the
impressive dunes approach, we start to weave and wind our way
through some smaller dunes on our way to the top of "Big Billy"
(One of the largest dunes on the eastern side of the dune belt).
After enjoying a non-alcoholic refreshment we "power-up" and
start the exhilarating passage through the dunes towards the
western side. The stark and savage beauty of the Namib Desert is
captured in the 1hr 40min cruise, putter, or zooming experience
of twists, weaves, meanders, spirals. berms, uphills and
negotiating slopes on our way to the Western "lookout point"
The lookout point is a great dune overlooking the harsh
Atlantic Ocean and makes for some spectacular photo
opportunities. Our experience needs no prior knowledge of
riding. For non-riders we have the new Yamaha automatic and for
the experienced we have the "nippy" manual shift machines.
Helmets and goggles are compulsory and are provided. Our
trips include transfers to and from the departure point, cold
drinks and an assured huge smile.
We are "Eco-friendly" company and will insist that
participants ride in existing tracks that we will be following.
